The centre-midfielder returned to the ‘Gers for his second spell in May 2018, becoming one of Niall Currie’s first signings.
His always reliable performance in midfield last season were integral as the ‘Gers secured a second place finish in the Bluefin Sport Championship before winning the play-off to secure their place in the Premiership.
McDemott made 29 appearances for Rangers during his second spell, taking his Club total to 44 across his two tenures.
Confirming McDermott’s departure, boss Niall Currie commented,
“I would firstly like to thank Ashton for his wonderful contribution to the memorable season we had last year. I spoke with Ashton at the start of December and, obviously with not playing, he asked if he could go and begin training and hit the ground running with Bangor, to which we agreed. He has been the model professional right through and his attitude is second to none. Like all players, Ashton wants to play regular football and we wish him every success and thank him for the great role he played for us.”
Everyone at Carrick Rangers thanks Ashton for his commitment and dedication throughout his two spells at the Club, giving our best wishes for his move to Bangor.
Good luck Ash! #AmberArmy
