Loughran, 25, joined the ‘Gers on loan from Ballymena United at the start of the 2018/19 Bluefin Sport Championship campaign and enjoyed a fine first season at the Loughshore Hotel Arena.
The centre-half picked up a number of personal accolades throughout his first year at the Club; collecting the Spirit of ‘76 SC Player of the Month awards for October 2018 and February and March of 2019, as well as being named the Bluefin Sport Championship Player of the Month for February, and ultimately was included in the Bluefin Sport Championship Team of the Year.
Upon the expiry of his contract at the Ballymena Showgrounds, Loughran then joined the Club permanently in the summer and has proved to be of importance to the ‘Gers again this season, coming away with the Domino’s Pizza Man of the Match award on two occasions.
To date, Loughran has made 51 appearances for Carrick Rangers, scoring 12 goals; statistics that he will continue to build on as he commits himself to the ‘Gers for the next year-and-a-half.
Happy to have agreed a contract extension for the towering centre-half, Niall Currie commented,
“I am delighted to have Caolan on board for next season. He has showed great character in developing and maturing both on and off the pitch and he has reaped the benefits of that. He has came back into the team like a duck taking to water and his attitude has been superb. So now, we keep focusing on his development; he is young and has more to improve on but has shown that he wants to do that.
He possesses all of the attributes that we look for and is showing the consistency that will ensure his development continues. So many of our players like Caolan came into this season regarded as Championship players; they are showing what they are about and we are very proud of them.”
Also delighted to have penned his extension, Caolan Loughran said,
“I am delighted to sign on with the Club for next season. Carrick Rangers are going places and I want to be a part of that. I have enjoyed my football the most here at the Club; they have stuck by me in the good and bad times and that is what makes this Club so special. I have to thank the players, management staff and the fans for making my time here so enjoyable!”
It’s great to have you on board with us, Caolan! #AmberArmy
