Magill, a product of Carrick Rangers Academy, signed for the first team in 2018 but a cruciate injury in a pre-season friendly saw him ruled out for the season barring a substitute appearance in the final league game of the season against Portadown.
Danny returned to full fitness ahead of the 2019/20 season and made 10 appearances for the ‘Gers over the course of the campaign.
Upon signing the new 3 year deal, Danny will head to Ards on loan for the 2020/21 season in order to gain more experience at first team level.
Having secured the defender’s long-term future, Niall Currie commented:
“What we want Danny's 3 year deal to do, is let all young players know that a pathway to Senior football with us is there. Danny is Carrick Rangers through and through and we have high hopes that he will be with our Club for a very long time.
Unfortunately with his serious injury, his game time has been limited. His recovery from his injury is now fully complete, so we know it's important that he loads himself up with games. He is a pleasure for any manager to have - a great young man.”
Magill was equally pleased, saying:
“Being one of the local lads, it's nice to see lots of great things happening at the Club both on and off the pitch, so I'm delighted to have agreed the deal.
It's been a frustrating couple of years on a personal level after the long layoff I've had with my knee so a loan deal is probably what I need right now.
I'm looking forward to getting back to my sharpest over the next few months with Ards, with the plan of coming back and pushing on again with the great group of lads we have here at Carrick!”
Great to have you signed up Danny, and good luck at Ards next season! #AmberArmy
