Gavin Taggart joins the 'Gers
Carrick Rangers are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Gavin Taggart.

Taggart, a well renowned combative midfielder, started out his playing days as a youngster at Peterborough United before moving to Newington, and at one point played on the Junior International team with current Rangers club captain Mark Surgenor. In 2009 he signed for Roy Walker at Ballymena United and has spent the last 8 years at the Braidmen. He racked up 147 appearances for the Sky Blues during his tenure in which he won the League Cup and County Antrim Shield.

On capturing the 32-year-old central-midfielder, David McAlinden said, “Gavin is a player who is strong in the middle of the pitch and that is something which the team lacked last season. We’re trying to build a squad which is competitive and Gavin will do that by adding grit and determination to do well and I’m looking forward to working with him. Last season the team were too soft at times and too easily played through and that is something that I’m certainly confident that Gavin will stop as he’s a hungry, aggressive and competitive player and so I’m looking forward to him putting the Carrick shirt on and showing people what he’s made of.”

Welcome to the ‘Gers, Gavin! #AmberArmy
