'Gers agree loan deal for Suarez
Carrick Rangers are delighted to announce that we have agreed a deal for the loan of striker Mikel Suarez from Crusaders FC.

Originally from Bilbao, Suarez played football at school in Spain growing up as well as at youth level, before moving to England to study. There, the 30-year-old featured for teams such as Boston United, Dartford and Bishop’s Stortford. Standing at 6ft 3in, Suarez is a commanding presence in the attacking line.

Having moved to Northern Ireland to study a five-year medicine course at Queen’s University, Suarez signed for Crusaders last January but found his game time limited for the Hatchetmen, making 7 substitute appearances for the first team.

Speaking on Suarez’s capture, Carrick Rangers manager David McAlinden commented, “Mikel is going to be a focal point for us and that’s something that we were looking for. We’re happy to get him in as he’s a big, physical, lump of a lad who can hold the ball up well and win the majority of balls in the air. We’re looking forward to integrating him into the squad, he’s a top fella and has been great around the place the last couple of times he’s been in with us. We need strong characters who are going to be leaders both on and off the pitch so that the changing room is driving one way and Mikel will add to that as he is a complete professional who has lots of experience so when we end up in the trenches we can look to the likes of Mikel to pull us out of those difficult positions.”

Suarez gave an exclusive interview on his arrival which you can now view on our official YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvaMz5cSiK2ga4oHk9YeH6A
