Gers sign McNulty and Glackin
Carrick Rangers are delighted to announce the signings of defender Damien McNulty and striker Brendan Glackin.

McNulty started out his footballing career at Limavady United before following his then manager, Oran Kearney, to Coleraine. In January 2013, McNulty made the move to Finn Harps where he racked up over 100 appearances, while also playing alongside current Carrick ‘keeper Harry Doherty at Finn Park.

The 26-year-old can fit in at either centre-half or right-back, but will not be available for selection until the transfer window opens in January.

Pleased to have strengthened his defence options, David McAlinden said, “Damien is a big strong boy who will come in and give us defensive leadership. He’s a very good defender, I’ve known him since he was a young lad when I played against him or seen him playing from going to the odd Finn Harps game and I’m delighted to get him on board.”

Also signing is 19-year-old Brendan Glackin, who played youth football at Linfield before signing a two-year scholarship contract with Oldham Athletic at the age of 16. Glackin featured prominently for Oldham’s Under 18’s and was rewarded in January 2017 with his first team debut in a 1-0 win over Gillingham.

Glackin then moved to Radcliffe Borough in the summer but has not featured since October having been sidelined with an ankle injury which he has almost recovered from.

Glackin is also a Northern Ireland Under 19 international, and has played alongside Irish League players such as Glentoran’s Nathan Kerr and Glenavon’s Caolan Marron.

Upon the youngster’s arrival, David McAlinden commented, “Brendy is a goal scorer and he will score goals if we give him the opportunity, he’s always been the same. I’ve known him as a player when he went across to Oldham, he was doing well for them and unfortunately after a change of manager he was let go there. We’ve kept our interest quiet and has been on our radar for a little bit of time and once I knew we could get him on board, we moved quite quickly to get it done.”

Welcome to the Club lads! #AmberArmy
