Scannell & Henderson Join the 'Gers
Carrick Rangers are delighted to announce the loan signing of Eamon Scannell from Linfield as well as the arrival of striker Darren Henderson from Portadown.

Scannell joins the ‘Gers until the end of the season from the Blues, having made 1 appearance for the first team, setting up the winner on his debut against Glenavon. Eamon is highly rated at Linfield and signed a 2 and a half year deal with the Club in September, keeping him at Windsor Park until the end of the 2019/20 season.

The 19-year-old winger has played in two consecutive Steel & Sons Cup Finals for Linfield Swifts, putting in a Man of the Match performance against Dundela in the 2016 final, and starting in this season’s game against Newington. He was also part of the Northern Ireland Under 18 side that won the Centenary Shield last year. Scannell will wear the number 12 shirt for the remainder of the season.

Speaking on the exciting youngster’s arrival, David McAlinden commented, “We’re delighted to get Eamon on board. He’s a talented wide player, who will give us more attacking options and the ability to create and score more goals. He’s someone that Linfield rate highly and, similar to Ryan Nimick, it’s a situation where everybody wins. We get the benefit of an exciting player and Eamon and Linfield get the benefit of us developing him as a player.”

Also agreeing terms with the ‘Gers is former Coleraine, Dungannon Swifts, Ballymena United and Glentoran forward Henderson. The 31-year-old was most recently with Bluefin Sport Championship side Portadown having left Ballymena last Summer.

Henderson has won both the League Cup and County Antrim Shield in his distinguished career, and will don the number 32 shirt.

Having secured the veteran attacker’s signature, David McAlinden said, “We’re obviously looking for someone to score goals, and Darren has scored over 100 in the Irish League. He’s someone who can find the back of the net, and I’m hoping he can do the same for us.”

Scannell and Henderson join Brendan Glackin, Damien McNulty, Ryan Nimick and Ralph Kottoy in joining the ‘Gers this month.

Welcome to Carrick Rangers lads! #AmberArmy
