The ‘Gers will be aiming to bounce back when the Inver Reds visit tomorrow night, having lost 2-0 to PSNI just two days ago. It was a frustrating afternoon at Newforge Lane, as Niall Currie’s side hit the crossbar twice and failed to convert many other good chances.
Larne currently find themselves top of the Bluefin Sport Championship having won five and drawn one of their opening six games, with their only defeat of the season so far coming against Glentoran in the Bet McLean League Cup. Most recently, the Inver Park side beat Dundela 2-0 thanks to goals from Martin Donnelly and Jeff Hughes.
Paddy McNally and Liam Hassin are both in contention to face Carrick, having left the Club during the summer, while goalkeeper Michael Dougherty also had a brief spell at Taylors Avenue.
Meanwhile, Caolan Loughran could come up against the side he spent the second half of last season with, while Michael Smith, Chris Rodgers and Neil Lowry could also line up for Rangers against their old side.
The last competitive meeting between the sides came on the 31st March 2015 at Inver Park, when a header from forward Adam Dick deep into added time secured a vital 2-1 for the ‘Gers, helping them to Championship glory that season.
Interestingly, the last five competitive meetings between the East Antrim sides have all ended 2-1, with Carrick winning four of those encounters and Larne winning one.
Tomorrow evening’s fixture will be refereed by Ken Gibbons, with Gavin Andrews and Ryan Connolly the assistant referees.
Kick-off at a floodlit Loughshore Hotel Arena will be 7:45PM, so make sure to get out and support the lads as bragging rights in the East Antrim derby are on offer for the first time this season! #AmberArmy
