Fra Brennan and Gary Warwick have both joined up with Bluefin Sport Championship side Knockbreda, Tre Sterling made the move to Dundela, Martin Murray has signed for West Belfast side St. James’ Swifts and Paul McDowell has left for Crewe United in order to get more playing time having come back for injury.
Finally, Academy products Dylan Smiley and Ben Mitchell have joined Moyola Park, while striker Jake Moore has linked up with PSNI, all until the end of the season.
Speaking on the moves for Smiley and Mitchell, manager Niall Currie said,
“As with Sean Green, we have high hopes for both Dylan and Ben. We felt both players needed to go out and play “men’s football” against experienced players, and allow them to see the physicality that they will need in the years ahead. Sean has already been doing fantastically well at Comber Rec and both Dylan and Ben have started well at Moyola Park. The main thing for the two boys is getting that experience before returning to us at the start of next season.”
Also wishing to clarify McDowell’s move to Crewe United, Currie added,
“We have agreed to let Paul go and play competitive football at Crewe given that he is only coming back to training following his serious operation before Christmas. It will take him time to get back to full fitness, so rather than have him do that with our Under 20’s, we felt that it was best he went and got more competitive football. To help aid his recovery, Paul will train with us one night a week for the remainder of the campaign, which is of great benefit to us also as he is a brilliant presence in and around the squad.”
Everyone at Carrick Rangers would like to wish all players the very best of luck at their new clubs. #AmberArmy
