Phillip lost the lower half of his leg after standing on an improvised explosive device while on tour of Afghanistan, showing mental strength and adversity throughout his road to recovery.
Phillip spoke of his experiences of the importance of teamwork from his time in the Army, as well as the importance of being mentally resilient when confronted with testing circumstances.
Manager Niall Currie said,
“Phillip’s experiences in a team environment and his will to overcome adversity with his injuries will hopefully give the players a sense of perspective as they grow as players as individual. Our side is very young and at times are very hard on themselves when mistakes are made, but learning from these mistakes is how they will continue to develop. Overall, there is a very exciting young team here with a sprinkling of experience which bodes well for the future.”
Phillip was presented with a home jersey and a donation to his charity from the first team squad and management, and we wish to once again thank for Phillip for taking his time to deliver the talk. #AmberArmy
