Davy was a key player during the club’s momentous exploits
in 1976, winning the Intermediate Cup, Irish Cup and reaching the last sixteen
of the European Cup Winners’ Cup.
Although many football fans will remember that it was Gary
Prenter’s brace that won the Irish Cup in 1976, the ‘Gers players from that team
are quick to remind us that it was Davy’s goals that got them to the final; his
hat-trick against Larne in the semi-final replay at Seaview securing a place in
the final at The Oval. Davy also scored one of the goals in the Intermediate
Cup win over Dundela in the same season.
The thoughts of everyone at Carrick Rangers Football Club
are with Davy’s family and friends at this time.
