The 22-year-old joined the ‘Gers from Ballyclare Comrades last summer and enjoyed a great first season as an integral part of Niall Currie’s side, making 37 appearances and scoring 13 goals.
Nixon also proved to be a real creative spark in the final third as he provided 19 assists and will again offer an exciting attacking outlet for Rangers over the next two campaigns.
Happy to re-acquire the youthful talent of Nixon, boss Niall Currie commented,
“With Stewart’s new contract we are showing our intentions in regards to looking towards the future. Everyone knows how we feel about Stewart - he has been a breath of fresh air ever since he came to the club and he now has the opportunity to prove his ability at the highest level in the country. We have absolutely no doubt he will make a big impact for us this year and we are over the moon to have him on board for another two years.”
Also pleased to commit himself for the new season, Stewart Nixon said,
“I am looking forward to building on what we started last year, the boys who have come in have improved the team massively. This year is all about staying up and we then want to build on that and establish ourselves in the top flight and with the squad that we have we will give a good account of ourselves and do all we can to achieve that. Overall, I cannot wait to stay here for another two years.”
Great to have you on board, Stewarty! #AmberArmy
