The duo have been plying their trade in the League One side’s Under 23’s and arrive at the Loughview Leisure Arena until the end of the season.
A former scholar at Everton, Scully spent two seasons on a professional contract at Norwich City before he joined Stanley in 2020.
The 22-year-old Scouser is the captain of their 23’s and just over four months ago agreed a contract extension until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
He will be joined at the ‘Gers by his teammate Carson who will add to Stuart King’s defensive options.
Coming through the youth ranks at Liverpool and then Burnley, the 19-year-old signed his first professional contract by joining Accrington last July.
Scully has enjoyed ten first team appearances in the last 18 months, while Carson came off the bench to make his senior debut in an EFL Trophy tie in October.
Due to the need for international clearance, Scully & Carson will not be available for tomorrow evening’s game against Ballymena United, but will come into contention for this Saturday’s trip to Dungannon Swifts.
With the loan switch confirmed, Tom Scully commented,
“I am buzzing to be here, the manager has been great with me and played a huge part in me wanting to join this great Club. I will give everything on the pitch between now and the end of the season and can’t wait to get going!”
Adding to that, Matty Carson echoed his teammate’s excitement by saying,
“I am delighted to be joining Carrick Rangers on loan, I am looking forward to getting out in front of the fans this Saturday and getting started.”
Stuart King, pleased to bolster his squad with two new additions, said,
“I am delighted to welcome Tom and Matty to the Club. It has been a long, drawn-out process but I would like to thank John Coleman, Ged Brannan and Andy Gray for their patience and desire to try and help myself and the Club.
These two lads will improve the quality we have and will reinforce my desire to try and drive the Club forward, bringing in two full-time players is a sign of that.
I would like to thank my Board for their support in this deal and going forward hopefully we can continue to build on the relationship we have made with Accrington Stanley.”
Welcome to the #AmberArmy, Tom & Matty!
