The midfielder first joined the Club in 2014, playing under Gary Haveron and winning a treble of the Championship title, Steel & Sons Cup and Intermediate Cup in his first campaign, while also being part of the side that dramatically secured Premiership safety through Miguel Chines’ overhead kick on the final day of the following season.
Cherry would then move to Ards where he spent three years before returning to Carrick in 2019, one of Niall Currie’s first additions to his squad following Rangers’ return to the top flight.
Now under the tutelage of Stuart King, the 29-year-old continues to prove his worth with his impressive and reliable performances in the middle of the park.
Pleased to have penned the extension to his deal, Kyle Cherry said,
“I am delighted to extend my contract here at Carrick for another two years. I have played a lot of games for the Club, albeit over two spells, and I believe we are in a great position on-and-off the pitch which I am excited to be a part of.”
Happy to confirm the news of Cherry’s extension, Stuart King added,
“I am delighted that Kyle has agreed to stay with us for another two years. Since getting into the side he has been really influential on the team with his quality and goal threat. He is continually improving and I know he can become an even better player which will improve the team going forward; Kyle will be a big part of that.”
