The 27-year-old defender has been one of Rangers’ standout players in the season just past, making 26 appearances in what was a record-breaking campaign.
Despite missing his side’s final two fixtures, Stewart made an important impact in his last appearance as he headed in two goals in three minutes to send the ‘Gers on their way to victory against Loughgall.
With his existing contract approaching its expiry, Stewart has signed on the dotted line of a new three-year agreement to extend his stay at Taylors Avenue.
“I am delighted to get the deal done,” said Stewart.
“When I joined the Club two years ago I had fallen out of love with football but Stuart, Scott and everyone at the Club has made me feel at home. It is a real family club and I know that’s something that gets bandied around a lot but Carrick most definitely is.
“We have a great changing room that is hungry for success and I believe the Club is only going in the right direction. The manager and the board have big ambitions and it is something I want to be a part of. We've had some success this year but I believe this is only a stepping stone for the Club and I am extremely happy to be a part of it for the next three years at least.”
Stuart King was equally as delighted to have secured Stewart’s services for the next three years as he immediately gets to work on building towards the 2024/25 season.
“I am really happy that the Club has agreed this extension with Cameron as he fully deserves it,” King commented.
“I told him when he first came in that he would get game time here and enjoy it which is exactly what he has done.
“He has played a massive part in our progression to date and he will continue to play a massive part in the progression still to come.”
