Known for his energy and endeavour in the middle of the park, the 31-year-old’s senior career began in England with spells at Preston North End, Burton Albion and Bristol Rovers.
Upon his return to Northern Ireland he signed for Linfield which preceded a stint at Derry City before he took a break from the game during which he lived in Australia for 11 months.
Returning home once again, Dungannon Swifts, where he developed in his youth, was his next destination and he was one of the starting players in the County Tyrone side’s BetMcLean Cup Final triumph in 2018.
Clucas has spent the last four-and-a-half years at Glentoran from whom he will join the ‘Gers this summer on the expiry of his contract, committing himself to Stuart King’s side until 2027.
“I am really happy to get the deal done,” Clucas commented.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Glentoran but with work commitments, I couldn’t fit into their schedule moving forward.
“I had different options and the most appealing of those was Carrick. Everything lined up really well in terms of the thoughts and ambitions of the Club.
“I met Stuart (King) and Peter (Clarke) and what they’re trying to do with the Club moving forward, along with Owner Michael Smith, is something I want to be a part of.”
Rangers chief Stuart King was thrilled to land his first new recruit of the off-season.
“Seanan is someone I have wanted to bring to our Club for a long time. I am a big admirer of his energy in the middle of the park and he is respected as one of the best midfielders in the country.
“He is close to a lot of the lads in the squad so I know he will enjoy his football here while improving us at the same time. I want to keep adding quality to my squad and I am delighted the Board has supported us in bringing Seanan to our Club.”
