Destination Solitude

It’s the final round of league games before the split on Saturday, with the ‘Gers travelling to Solitude to take on Cliftonville.

Both sides go into Saturday’s game knowing whatever the result, they will be in the bottom 6 post-split. Carrick will be in 11th position, with Cliftonville still able to finish in 7th, 8th or 9th position, depending on results. Should the Reds finish in 7th position, both sides would meet again in the first round of post-split fixtures on Tuesday 1st April.

The Reds were in action on Tuesday evening, drawing 2-2 away at Coleraine, Ryan Curran with both goals, including one from the penalty spot in the 87th minute to earn a point.

It’s been just over a month since the ‘Gers last trip to Solitude. That night losing out 3-0 with goals from Rory Hale, Alex Parsons and Stephen McGuinness. Rangers one talking point came at 1-0, after a spell of pressure in the second-half saw Kyle Cherry appear to poke the ball over the line to equalise, however the officials on the night were unmoved.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Reece Glendinning returned to competitive action on Monday evening for the U20 side, featuring alongside Ben Buchanan-Rolleston, Josh Andrews, Jack O’Reilly and Shane Forbes, registering a 4-1 win over Loughgall U20s. Paul Heatley, Luke McCullough and Ross Glendinning remain doubts, along with Joe Crowe who was replaced after 30 minutes last Saturday.
