‘Gers go into Saturday’s tie unbeaten in their last two, thanks to David Cushley’s last minute equaliser in Ballymena last Saturday. For Loughgall, their last place league finish was confirmed following a 3-1 defeat at Portadown last weekend, former ‘Ger Ryan Waide with the consolation goal.
The last time ‘Gers made the trip to the Villagers was back in Gameweek 2, Loughgall opening their league campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory in what started a dismal run of league form for Carrick. Jordan Gibson netted twice from set pieces and Benji Magee added a third late on.
With Rangers focus now on the Promotion/Relegation Playoff at the end of this month, ‘Gers boss Stephen Baxter may well choose to rest and rotate a number of key players.
Luke McCullough and Paul Heatley returned to the starting XI last Saturday, with Reece Glendinning getting more valuable minutes. Danny Gibson could return having been absent through illness. Kurtis Forsythe serves the second of a two game suspension (yellow cards).
