When the sides last met at Taylors Avenue back in August, first-half goals from Curtis Allen and Nedas Maciulaitis helped ‘Gers to a 2-0 victory to open their campaign. Since then, both sides have struggled to find consistent form across the season, as well as making a managerial change during.
For Carrick and Stephen Baxter, the focus is now firmly on securing safety through the Promotion/Relegation Playoff that takes place next week. As a result, it is possible a much-changed side takes to the field for ‘Gers on Saturday with a short turnaround to the First Leg of the Playoff, taking place on Tuesday 29th April.
From the playing squad, only Cameron Stewart, Ethan Boyle and Ben Tilney (both knee) are unavailable. In recent weeks Stephen Baxter has been able to get minutes in the legs of Reece Glendinning and Paul Heatley as they return from injury.
Carrick will be hoping to carry on their 3-game unbeaten run, after drawing 2-2 at Loughgall last Saturday. Glenavon come into the tie having defeated Ballymena 2-0 at Mourneview Park on the same day.
A reminder that Saturday's tie kicks off at 3:00pm, after agreement from both sides to move the game forward from the original 5:30pm scheduled time.
