McKay Joins 'Gers

Carrick Rangers is delighted to announce the signing of Ryan McKay on loan for the 2025/26 season.

The 20-year-old joins the Club from Linfield, where he has made 19 appearances for the Blues and was in the squad for Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League play-off against Shelbourne.

The left-back began his youth career at Ridgeway Rovers before moving to Dundela where he made his senior debut for the Duns aged 16 in a 2-0 home win over the ‘Gers in the Co. Antrim Shield. McKay went on to make 51 appearances for Dundela, scoring twice before joining David Healy’s side.

McKay will wear the number 25 shirt for the ‘Gers.

On joining Carrick Rangers, Ryan McKay commented,

“I'm delighted to be here, it's been something I've wanted to do personally, to get out on loan and get more games under my belt so hopefully I can come down here and be successful at Carrick Rangers this season.

There are a a few boys I know, having played with Jimmy Callacher at Linfield. I'm excited and looking forward to working with the staff and the playing squad down here."

Manager Stephen Baxter added,

“I am delighted to welcome Ryan McKay to Carrick Rangers on a season long loan from Linfield.

Ryan is a player who I have followed closely from his time at Dundela as a young player. He has natural ability, energy, and a real hunger to do well.  Ryan has all of the attributes as a defender, an eye for a great pass and a fantastic left foot.  We are absolutely delighted that he has decided to join Carrick Rangers.

I would like to thank Willie McKeown, David Healy and Linfield for making this move possible.

A very warm welcome to Ryan from everyone at Carrick Rangers and we are looking forward to seeing you in the Amber Army colours very soon!”

Welcome to Carrick Rangers, Ryan!
