Shield Showdown with Bangor

Carrick Rangers host Bangor in Round 1 of the toalsbet.com Country Antrim Shield on Tuesday evening at Taylors Avenue.

The sides met at the same stage of the competition last season, with Carrick overcoming the County Down side 4-0 at Clandeboye Park, thanks to a brace from Paul Heatley, a strike from distance from Kurtis Forsythe and a header from Danny Gibson.

In the league, the visitors have enjoyed a positive start to their return to the top flight, recording home wins against Cliftonville and most recently Dungannon Swifts, thanks to Ben Arthurs and Mark Haughey goals.

Stephen Baxters’ men go into Tuesday’s shield tie having extended their unbeaten run in the league to 4 games, thanks to a hard-fought display at The Oval on Saturday resulting in a well-deserved point. Paul Heatley with the goal for the ‘Gers.

‘Gers boss Baxter may opt to rotate the squad on Tuesday evening, however remains without the services of Ethan Boyle, Seanan Clucas (both knee), Reece Glendinning (hand) and Cameron Stewart.
