Ports In Town

Carrick Rangers host Portadown this Saturday, with both sides hoping to bounce back from their Round 1 League Cup defeats earlier in the week.

For the ‘Gers, it was a goal-filled first half at Holm Park, taking the lead through a Paul Heatley strike from the edge of the area before Scott Pengelly was adjudged to have brought down an Armagh City player in the box, Pengelly would save the penalty before Portadown loanee Igor Rutkowski scored the rebound. Scott McCann would put Armagh into the lead before captain Stephen Teggart added a third with 10 minutes to go in the first half. Nedas Maculaitus pulled one back Rangers on the stroke of half-time, but despite the best efforts, it ended 3-2 to Armagh City.

For Portadown, they made the trip to the Newry Showgrounds on Tuesday evening. The only goal of the game scored by Newry’s Lee Newell just after the hour mark. Ports would finish the game with 10 men as Lee Chapman was sent off.

The ‘Gers remains without the services of Adam Lecky (hamstring), Ethan Boyle, Seanan Clucas (both knee), Reece Glendinning (hand) and Cameron Stewart. Paul Heatley made his return to action on Tuesday evening.
