Rangers visit Ballymena

Carrick Rangers travel to the Ballymena Showgrounds on Saturday for their final game before Christmas.

Following a high-scoring draw last time out against Dungannon Swifts, the Amber Army venture to Ballymena hoping for the early Christmas present of three points.

If recent games had the theme of promising plays but a lack of goals, last Saturday delivered with the 'Gers finding the net 3 times through Danny Gibson, Paul Heatley and Aidan Steele, only to miss out on the win through a 91st minute equaliser.

For Ballymena United, it has been a period of change following the departure of Jim Ervin at the end of November, a win over Larne in the League Cup followed before Oran Kearney was appointed to the hot seat. Though his first game in charge last Saturday ended in defeat to Portadown with James Teelan netting the only goal of the game.

The sides last met on 4th October at Taylors Avenue, when Ballymena United edged out the 'Gers to win 2–1. The last time the 'Gers visited The Showgrounds was in the penultimate league game of last season, David Cushley netting a last minute equaliser.

Stephen Baxter remains without without Ethan Boyle, Nedas Maciulaitis (both knee), and Cameron Stewart.
