The 19-year-old joins the Club from Glentoran, having spent the first half of the season on loan at Ballinamallard where he made 24 appearances for the Playr-Fit Championship side.
Donnelly made his senior for the Glens in the 2023/24 season, coming on as a substitute in a Sports Direct Premiership fixture against Coleraine.
He also spent some time out on loan at both Lisburn Distillery and Newry City in the 2024/25 season, gaining valuable first team experience.
On joining Carrick Rangers, Lorcan Donnelly commented,
“I’m really looking forward to joining the Club for the rest of the season and I can’t wait to get started. I’m ready to work hard and make the most of this opportunity to learn, improve and gain valuable experience.
I would like to thank the manager and all the staff for putting their trust in me, and I’m looking forward to playing in front of all the supporters and giving everything I can for the team.”
Manager Stephen Baxter added,
“We’ve had a bit of a problem with losing Nathan Gartside for a few weeks or months with a torn thigh muscle, so it put us in a very difficult position where we only had one goalkeeper.
We’ve been scouring the country for a week now for a suitable replacement and Lorcan has come very highly recommended. He’s a 19-year-old goalkeeper who’s really on the rise who was drawing a lot of interest from other Clubs and Glentoran have been superb in their approach to helping us.
I have to thank Declan Devine, Elliot Morris and Paul Millar for their help in getting him in. He’s a really good prospect who we’re delighted to have with us and we’re looking forward to what he can do in the coming months.”
Welcome to Carrick Rangers, Lorcan!
