The Bannsiders started the brighter, Joel Cooper striking the crossbar from distance before then having a goal ruled out for offside. Coleraine took the lead from a Will Patching corner which evaded everyone before ending up in the back of the net, via the upright.
Coleraine continued to dominate possession but it was the 'Gers who found the net on the stroke of half time, a long throw was recycled via Joe Crowe into Danny Gibson, who guided a header into the path of the unmarked Mikey Place who drove into the box before finishing confidently.
After the interval, Carrick looked the more likely side to find a winner, Danny Gibson was denied by the offside flag on the hour mark before Crowe found himself unmarked at the back post following a series of flick ons from Adam Lecky and Place, but his shot was just wide of the post.
Lorcan Donnelly produced an important save in the closing stages to deny Cooper once again as the 'Gers secured a well-deserved point.
Stephen Baxter was delighted with his sides endeavour following a tricky opening 20 minutes and gave special mention to the efforts of the centre back pairing of Billy Joe Burns and Luke McCullough who were again impressive throughout the game.
The 'Gers now enjoy a well-deserved midweek off following a tough run of games, before travelling to Inver Park to take on Larne on Friday evening in the league. Kick off on Friday 20 February is at 19:45 GMT.
