Report | Carrick Rangers 1 - 1 Bangor

Carrick Rangers picked up their 40th point of the season with a 1-1 draw, at home to Bangor on Saturday.

Stephen Baxter made 2 changes from the 'Gers league win over Larne. Adam Lecky returned, replacing the injured Joe Crowe, whilst Reece Glendinning earned his second start of the season, replacing Matthew Olosunde, who was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

The 'Gers started on the front foot, creating several attacking opportunities inside the first period. It was Paul Heatley who put Carrick ahead in the 12th minute, after a Matthew Snoddy cross was well struck from the edge of the box by Heatley to sneak in at the far post.

Bangor then began to get a foothold in the game, and struck the woodwork before Lewis Harrison was brought down by Heatley in the area, result in referee Louise Thompson awarding a spot kick. Harry Lynch sent 'Gers keeper Nathan Gartside the wrong way to level the scores at the break.

During the second half, both sides traded blows with neither side creating a clear cut chance to go ahead. Reece Glendinning came closest to restoring the 'Gers lead with a clean volley in the box, but Ben Arthurs headed the ball off the line.

Stephen Baxter introduced Kyle Cherry in the 84th minute, moments later he was fouled by Bangor captain Harrison who was given his second yellow of the afternoon and dismissed.

Despite pushing for a winner, the 'Gers were unable to test Bangor keeper Axworthy in the closing stages.

In the 94th minute, Carrick were also reduced to 10, as Adam Lecky was shown a straight red card after a tussle in the box with Reece Neale.

Stephen Baxter remarked that it was an ugly game to watch, with the ball in the air a lot of the day but praised the efforts of his players, in what has been a busy period.

Rangers are back in action on Tuesday 3 March, taking on Glentoran at The Oval, with kick-off at 19:45 GMT.
